The 2012 Gluecon conference, held outside Denver, CO, set new attendance records this year, with developers from around the world converging to discuss the intersection of Cloud, Mobile, API, and Big Data.

Each year at Gluecon, Alcatel-Lucent sponsors the Demo Pod exhibit and competition to highlight some of the top early stage start-ups. Companies of all size apply to participate in this event but only a handful are choose.

A Gluecon committee reviews each application and chooses 12 companies to be given a free exhibit space to showcase their business to all the conference attendees. As a part of the event, attendees were able to vote for their favorite Demo Pod company via Twilio’s text message voting service.

At the end of the event, the votes were tallied and Gluecon staff told our team that Distil was this year’s winner and we had 15 minutes to prepare a quick presentation where Distil would be announced the winner of the 2012 Demo Pod competition.

Without fail, our CEO Rami Essaid made a quick scramble to prepare a presentation (video above) and officially take the reigns from Bart Lorang and team at FullContact, the 2011 Demo Pod winners. Over 600 people were in attendance.
